Outback Gold
Strike it lucky in the red centre with sticky nugget respins.

Theme and story
Outback Gold drops you onto a sunburnt claim deep in the red centre, where a weathered prospector has one last season to find the seam his grandfather swore was there. The reels sit inside a corrugated-iron mining shed, the soundtrack mixes slide guitar with the crackle of a campfire, and every gold nugget that lands glints like it was pulled from the creek bed that morning.
How the base game plays
The game runs on a 5x4 grid with 40 fixed paylines, paying left to right from the first reel. The Prospector is the top symbol, followed by the Gold Pan and Pickaxe, with Lantern, Dynamite and card royals filling out the lower pays. A Prospector wild appears on reels two to five and substitutes for everything except nuggets. Nuggets carry demo-credit values and can land on any spin, so even quiet rounds keep a little tension on the reels.
The Hold & Win feature
Land six or more gold nuggets and the Hold & Win round begins. Every nugget locks in place and you receive three respins. Each new nugget that lands sticks and resets the counter to three. Special nuggets reveal one of four fixed jackpots – Mini, Minor, Major or Grand – and filling all 20 positions awards the Mother Lode, the 5,000x top prize. When the respins run out, all visible values are added together and paid in one hit.
- Six or more nuggets trigger the round
- Respins reset to three with every new nugget
- Four jackpot tiers plus the full-grid Mother Lode
The maths, explained simply
Outback Gold has a theoretical return to player of 96.4%, measured over millions of simulated spins rather than a single session – see what RTP actually means for the detail. It is a high-volatility game: wins land roughly once every 4.2 spins, but many of those are small, and the big moments are concentrated in the Hold & Win round. Expect long dry patches followed by sharp spikes. Read our guide to slot volatility if you want to know how that shapes a session.
Designer notes
We wanted an online slot that felt distinctly Australian without leaning on cartoon clichés. The art team studied old goldfields photography for the palette, and the math team tuned the nugget frequency so the feature arrives often enough to stay fun in a demo.
