Midnight Diner

Theme and story

Midnight Diner is a love letter to the all-night roadside diner: chrome stools, a buzzing neon sign, a jukebox in the corner and a waitress who has seen everything. It is 2 am, the coffee is fresh and the cook is in a generous mood. Our artists drew on mid-century advertising for the bold colours, and the soundtrack is an original doo-wop tune recorded for the game.

How the base game plays

The reels are a 5x3 grid with 25 fixed paylines. The Jukebox, Milkshake and Cheeseburger are the top-paying symbols; Hot Dog, Coffee Cup, Fries, Doughnut and royals fill out the paytable. The Jukebox also acts as a wild on reels two, three and four. At random, the Blue Plate Special can land on any spin and apply a 2x to 5x multiplier to every win on that spin.

The pick-a-dish bonus

Land three Order Ticket scatters on reels one, three and five and you are seated in a booth with a 12-dish menu. Pick dishes one at a time to reveal:

• Demo-credit prizes based on your stake
• Bottomless coffee, which grants an extra pick
• Chef's Special, which doubles the total so far
• The Bill, which ends the bonus

Every bonus starts with one free coffee, so you always get at least two picks. A full table of picks with a Chef's Special at the end is how the 2,500x maximum is reached.

The maths, explained simply

Midnight Diner returns a theoretical 96.0% over the long run; what RTP actually means explains why that figure is not a promise for any single session. Medium volatility and a hit rate of about one in 3.3 spins make for a balanced experience. The pick bonus feels interactive, but the outcomes are set by the game's random number generator, not by which dish you choose.

Designer notes

Pick bonuses fell out of fashion in modern online slot design, but players in our testing loved the sense of ordering off a menu. We kept it short and snappy so it never interrupts the rhythm of the reels. Grab a booth with free demo credits and explore our full games catalogue. 18+ free-play only.
